With nearly 40 years’ experience in supporting the needs of people living with cancer, Penny Brohn UK understands that cancer impacts every part of a person’s life.
Penny Brohn UK is the only charity in the UK offering an integrated approach to cancer called the Bristol Whole Life Approach. The Approach recognises that people need more than medicine to cope with all the ways that cancer affects their life. They see each person as a unique individual with their own set of hopes and needs – a whole person made up of mind, body, spirit and emotions.
This pioneering Approach enables people to self-manage their health and wellbeing more effectively, increasing their confidence and connectedness with themselves and others. Exploring areas like diet, exercise, emotions, relationships and managing stress, their free courses, one-to-one therapies and group sessions, help people to make small but sustainable changes whilst nurturing themselves at the deepest level.
Penny Brohn UK run free adult residential and day courses from their National Centre in Bristol and non-residential regional Living Well with the Impact of Cancer courses to address the same issues locally to enable more people to attend and be supported. They also run a national helpline.
Through an innovative partnership with GenesisCare, Penny Brohn hope to make their services available for all those affected by cancer. Through this partnership based in Kings Hill patients can access the complementary therapies available to increase feelings of wellbeing and reduce negative feelings associated with their condition, and to also manage some of the symptoms and side-effects associated with clinical treatments.
Penny Brohn UK wants to reach as many people as possible, and as a registered charity relies on donations to keep its services free to all that need them.
