Oad Street Food and Crafts
Tucked away in the village of Borden near Sittingbourne, Oad Street Food and Crafts is a family-run restaurant specialising in brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. The extensive menu offers your favourite classics such as a Cream Tea or a Full English Breakfast but also has some unique items like their ‘Dirty Tots’ (potato tots served with a sweet chilli mayo topped with chorizo, parmesan and spring onion) or pulled pork with eggs on toast.
The restaurant was bright and lively inside, and the staff were friendly and happy to answer any questions about the menu. We opted for the Oad St Brunch (a Full English Breakfast), halloumi brunch burrito and a side of the Dirty Tots. For drinks, we tried their matcha latte and cucumber and mint iced tea. The Oad St Brunch included local produce such as the sourdough toast and eggs that were incredibly fresh and tasty, but the star of the show for me had to be the Dirty Tots. The potato tots were crisp and hot, and the pairing of the chilli mayo and other toppings made for a very more-ish side dish.
If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, Oad Street also offers traditional afternoon tea and celebratory brunch experiences both including unlimited tea or coffee of your choice and a variety of food to share for a minimum of 2 people. There are also vegan and vegetarian options for both experiences, as well as many options on the main menu to choose from that cater to dietary preferences.
After your meal I would definitely recommend having a wander around the on-site shop where you can find handmade crafts from regional businesses, including some lovely cards and gifts.
