Mereworth Community Primary School wins Green School Award!
Here at Mereworth, we are on an eco-mission to protect the environment and develop the sustainability of our school. We are entering competitions and initiatives this year, and I am very pleased to announce that we have already won our first eco -award!
We are a winner of the ‘Green School Award’, an initiative run by Social Enterprise Kent to showcase the amazing work that schools and pupils are doing to protect our planet and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. The judges were so impressed by our vast knowledge and continuous development of our wonderful school areas, that they chose us to be a winner.
The evidence put forward for the award included our work in Forest School, the wildlife pond, sensory garden, polytunnel, recycling bins, OPAL recycled play materials, reduction in energy use, pupil eco-team and ongoing climate and sustainability education for the children. We will find out which category we have won at the awards ceremony on Friday 28th November.
